1944

The uprising began on Tuesday, the 1 August 1944 as an armed appearance of the Polish
 Home Army at 5 p.m. (but the first shots were fired nearly at 1 p.m.).
           
Colonel Adam Borkiewicz proposed the following programme of offensive:
        
              1st August- 4th August :                   an overall insurgent attack to
                                                                      get control over Warsaw

              5th August - 2nd September :          a period of insurgent offensive

              3rd September - 2nd October :        the struggle for survival
